how is your kid hero?

This term for PBL we got to make a custom island. We had three choices including minecraft, paper mache and digital.

We got to learn about things like earth systems like soil, life forms, air, rocks and water.  We needed to make this island like the circle of life and all of the different types of rocks and more. Here is a link to my world and blurb.

What did you like about it?

This week for reding we have been reading adout natural resources I learnt that water is made of one oxygen and two hydrogen. 

My learning was to make a poster of a natural resource I did two soil and water her is my poster.

Here is what it says.

 

WATER

The clear liquid that has no color, taste, or smell, that falls from clouds as rain, that forms streams, lakes, and seas, and that is used for drinking, washing, water is made with 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen. 

 

SOIL

Soil is. a mixture of minerals and organic material that covers much of Earth’s surface. Minerals are bits of rock, and organic material is the remains of living things that have died. Soil is not as solid as rock. It has many small spaces, called pores, that hold water and air.

For the last four weeks of Term 3 we were learning about ‘How we can be Champions on Peace’.

Firstly we learnt about the different symbols of peace. Some of these are the CND and dove

These symbols represent peace because the CND one was a sign of peace in world war two and the dove cos it found the land in noah’s ark

With these symbols in mind I created a Peace Artwork. My Peace Artwork represents peace because it has a peace symbol it is the CND symbol.

We also researched some real life champions of peace and wrote a short biography. I wrote about. Nelson Mandela. I thought this person was a champion of peace because he was the first black president for south Afraca.

We also created a peace prayer book. I have attached my peace prayer book here.

I enjoyed learning about peace because now i know that there are more peace sige in the world

I learnt that we can do some little things can be a big change.

One way I plan on being a champion of peace is by Always helping people when they need it.

This week in reading we have read a text called Don’t sit if you want to want to get fit.

And the cerete was. what is the bad things about siting. and the good things about standing.

the bad things about siting are.

You dont get buff. 

You dont meet new people and old friends. 

You get cancer and get varey sick. 

increases your risk of chronic health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. 

You develop a hunchback.

can cause you pain and injury.

And the good things aboul sanding are.

You get buff. 

You meet new people and old friends. 

You dont get cancer or very sick. 

It good for your harte. 

It good for your Brane.

In week 9 my hub went to YMCA camp. It was so much fun.

On Monday the 10th of September Kaupeka year 7’s headed away to camp for two nights and three days. We went to Wainui camp. It took about an hour and a half to get there on the bus.

My activity group was made up of Boys and Girls which were me, George, Mark, Vincent, Jules, Madison, Ella L, Bella and Dakota. Our activity leader was my dad, Mike.

Here are some of the activities we did:

• Coasteering
• Archery
• Search and Rescue
• Orienteering

My favourite activity was archery because I have done it before and I have gotten real good at it and my least favourite was coasteering because the water was so cold and the last jump was way too scary for me. I created a really cool bunker out of sticks for shelter building.

I have created a Canva slideshow to showcase and reflect on my time at camp.

In Science we have been learning about electricity.  I Lirnd that electricity is made by any thing.

One of the experiments we did was: The buzzer experiment.

Materials you needed were:

one Copper nail and one zinc nail

wires

cup

salt water

Before conducting my experiment I thought that the Buzz was going to be big. 

After finishing my experiment I found out that my hypothesis was incorrect because the buzz was small but I could barely hear it. 

 

If I was to do this experiment again or something similar I now know that the Buzz will be small. 

Something I found interesting during this learning was the complicated words and learning what they meant.
